Isabel Lacatus wins big in competition, scores deal with RCA
Berks teen comes in 1st in the KIDZ Star USA Talent Search contest.
A dream has turned into reality for a 13-year-old girl from West Lawn. Isabel Lacatus competed in a talent competition and won big, scoring a deal with RCA Records.
Isabel was one of the top four finalists in the KIDZ Star USA Talent Search and won first place.
"I am the happiest girl now," she said.
Isabel conquered her dreams in Los Angeles, winning a contract with RCA Records. But behind the pretty smile is a hardworking girl from West Lawn.
Isabel started taking professional piano lessons at age three, started singing opera at age nine and has already enrolled in the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In addition to singing big hits like "Girl on Fire," she has written 40 songs of her own.
"Everything is just literally going step by step and it is all coming at a great point in my life, and I think this is a really great start to my career," she said.
Isabel prepared for the competition for weeks.
"Once I got on stage, I literally just told myself no matter how I do, just have fun and live in the moment," said Lacatus.
And she said the moment went by so quickly. After three days in L.A., she is now back in West Lawn ready to launch her career.
"The whole moment there, I was just speechless. Right now, I am still processing it, everyday having to wake up now being able to say I am a recording artists under RCA is just amazing," said Lacatus.
Isabel will start filming the KIDZ Pop commercial and music video in November. Then she will begin working with RCA Records to release a single.
