Generic Kutztown University campus - summer - no students
KUTZTOWN, Pa. -

The forecast for temperatures in the 90s on Wednesday prompted a request for Kutztown University to reduce its use of electricity.

University officials said K.U.'s power provider requested a reduction in electricity consumption on campus between noon and 3 p.m.

In a campus-wide memo, university officials asked faculty, students and staff to turn off unnecessary lights and appliances, including coffee pots, radios and televisions, and raise the temperature on any operable thermostats.

The temperature inside campus buildings that have their thermostats centrally controlled were raised in an effort to meet the power company's request.
