The Berks County chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominations for its annual Heroes Awards.
Awards will be given in the following categories: Fire safety; animal rescue; law enforcement; adult good Samaritan; medical; youth good Samaritan; military; community impact; and 911 dispatch.
Nominees must live or work in Berks County, and their heroic action must have occurred between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013.
Those who are chosen as Red Cross Heroes will be formally honored during the 10th annual Heroes Awards and Breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wyomissing on May 8.
Organizers announced Friday that Dr. Tim Ring, an internationally recognized forensic psychologist and trauma specialist, will serve as the event's guest speaker.
Ring volunteered with the Red Cross disaster relief efforts following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and during Hurricane Katrina.
