READING, Pa. -

A man who fell about 20 feet into the Schuylkill River while running from police in Reading is out of the hospital.

Octavio Alvarado has moved from a hospital room to a jail cell.

Police said they tried to pull Alvarado over last week because he was driving a stolen SUV.

Alvarado took off and eventually crashed near the campus of Reading Area Community College, police said. He was running from officers when he fell from a storm drain.

Alvarado was charged with assault and related offenses.
