READING, Pa. -

A police officer crashed his patrol car while responding to a call for help from a fellow officer in Reading, officials said.

The accident, involving the police car and another car, happened shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday at Pearl and Chestnut streets.

The officer was on his way to help another officer, who was chasing a suspect on foot in the area of South 6th and Chestnut streets.

No one was injured in the accident, which briefly closed Chestnut Street to traffic until the damaged vehicles could be moved.

The man being pursued got away. Police have not said why he is wanted.
