Pennsylvania State Police to conduct free child car seat inspections at Reading station
Pennsylvania State Police are commemorating National Child Passenger Safety Week this week by offering free child car seat inspections.
Troopers will be checking the installation of child car seats at the Reading barracks, 600 Kenhorst Blvd., in Reading this Friday and Saturday.
Friday's inspections will take place between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Saturday's checks will be conducted from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
No appointment is necessary on either day, state police said.
Seven out of 10 children in child safety seats are not properly buckled in, according to seatcheck.org, which provides information about child seats and their installation. You can also learn more from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or by calling 1-866-SEAT-CHECK.
