A Reading man is facing a list of charges following a wild chase in Bern Township over the weekend.
Police said they spotted a group of people hanging around a car on County Welfare Road late Saturday night.
The man in the driver's seat, Moises Gonzales Ciseros, appeared to be intoxicated, police said.
As Ciseros was looking for his driver's license, police said he put the car into drive and tried to take off.
One of the officers grabbed hold of the car, trying to put it into park, but he was thrown to the ground after about 75 feet and nearly run over by one of the rear tires, police said.
"He [the officer] sustained some minor injuries to his right leg, some abrasions, some other tenderness. And he is doing well," said Chief Wesley Waugh, Bern Twp., Police Dept.
That officer, police said, flagged down a passing motorist and commandeered the car. After a short chase, Ciseros was taken into custody in the area of Route 183 and Boeing Avenue.
"Obviously alcohol was a factor, and there could be many others. But it clearly was a violation of law," said Chief Waugh.
Ciseros was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police and DUI.
