CUMRU TWP., Pa. -

Checking out a tip, police in Berks County evacuated the Penske Corporation headquarters Friday morning in search of a man possibly armed with a gun.

According to police and a Penske official, a landscaper noticed around 6:40 a.m. Friday someone enter the building at 2675 Morgantown Rd. in Cumru Township carrying a 'tube-like object', which he thought may have been a rifle.

Out of an abundance of caution, employees were evacuated from the building while officers searched inside.

The building also contains an engineering firm, Worley Parsons, which was also checked.

As of 9:35 a.m. Friday, the sweep of the building was complete and police gave the all-clear signal. No gunman or gun was found, said Sgt. George Kuriger, Cumru Twp. Police Dept.

Employees were then allowed to return to the building.
