Reading announces plans for annual Afro-Latino Parade
The seventh annual Afro-Latino Parade in Reading will take place Saturday.
The parade will step off at 1 p.m. from Baer Park and continue down Schuylkill Avenue to Walnut Street. It will then follow Walnut Street to North 3rd Street and end with a block party in the 200 block of North 3rd.
Music, giveaways and food will be available during the festivities.
Mayor Vaughn Spencer said he supports the efforts Afro-Latino LLC has made in providing events that welcome diversity and unity in Reading.
"I believe this parade offers the community the opportunity to unite and celebrate their diverse backgrounds in a healthy manner," Vaughn said. "I encourage the community to attend and enjoy the different performances that are given during this event."
