READING, Pa. -

The Reading Fightin Phils are set to welcome one of baseball's greats back to Baseballtown.

The team will honor Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Bunning at FirstEnergy Stadium on June 12.

Bunning's appearance and induction into the Reading Baseball Hall of Fame will commemorate the 50th anniversary of his perfect game, which he threw against the New York Mets on June 21, 1964.

Bunning spent 17 years in the major leagues before retiring and managing the Reading Phillies during the 1972 season.

Bunning then entered politics, serving in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

The first 2,500 fans 15 and older who attend the June 12 game will receive a Jim Bunning bobblehead figure. Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to attend a free autograph session.

Tickets for the 2014 season are set to go on sale Thursday at the Fightin Phils box office, online at Fightins.com and by phone at 610-370-BALL.
