Reading police seek tips to help catch teen's killer
Crime Alert Berks County offering reward of up to $10,000
Police continue their search for the killer of 15-year-old boy in Reading.
Wilberto Rojas was standing with a group of friends at Church and Douglass streets around 6:30 p.m. Friday when the attacker ran up and slashed the teen's throat, police said. Rojas died on his way to Reading Hospital.
Police said they are looking for a Hispanic man in his early 30s who stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall.
Information is vital in finding more about why the attack happened in the first place," said Capt. Damond Kloc, Reading Police Dept.
"The dynamic of the case is something I haven't seen. For a 15-year-old to be attacked in such a fashion with a couple of witnesses, to me, is mind blowing," Kloc said.
Kloc urges everyone to be extra alert and aware of their surroundings until the killer is caught. He also asks anyone with information about the victim, the stabbing or the attacker to Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
The crime stoppers group is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
In the meantime, grief counseling will be available for students at the Citadel -- the Reading Intermediate High School -- from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
