The wait is almost over. The Reading Public Library's central location will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The main library has been closed for repairs since August.

69 News got a sneak peak inside the library on South 5th Street on Monday.

Crews made repairs to the plaster in the library and to the roof of the century-old building. They also painted everything and installed new carpet. Then, everything inside had to be cleaned.

"In essence, every single book and audio visual item that we have had to be cleaned and wiped along with the shelving and the shelving had to be reconstructed and put back in and so forth," said Frank Kasprowicz, director, Reading Public Library.

Officials thanked everyone who used the temporary library that had been open on Penn Street for much of the time the main library was closed.
