READING, Pa. -

Make way for a special holiday delivery in downtown Reading.

The city's official Christmas tree arrived at 5th and Penn streets around lunchtime Monday.

Police had to close off the area to traffic for a short time while crews carefully hoisted the big tree into place.

Much of the tree, donated by Thomas Rohrbach, of Exeter Township, will be decorated with ornaments donated by Boscov's; the bottom part will feature ornaments made by students, the YMCA and Berks Women in Crisis.

A ceremony will light the tree at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, the eve of the city's Holiday Parade down Penn Street. The parade is scheduled to step off at 11th and Penn at 9 a.m.
