A private contractor from Reading stands accused of not finishing the work he was paid to do.

Reginald Reese was apprehended Friday and charged with theft by deception and fraudulent business practices.

Reese, officials said, was paid in advance by three separate property owners -- one in Reading and two in Shillington -- to perform renovation and repair work in July and August 2013.

Reese failed to complete the work and refused to return the money he was paid, totaling $8,075, officials said.

Following his arraignment, Reese, 51, was committed to the Berks County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Reese has prior convictions for the same crimes in both Pennsylvania and Indiana, officials said.
