Robber implies he has a gun, steals cash from store in Reading

READING, Pa. -

Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a corner store in Reading on Friday.

The holdup happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Walnut Grocery in the 100 block of North 3rd Street.

The couple who own the store told 69 News that the robber ordered a sandwich, and while the husband was preparing the sandwich, the robber told the wife he had a weapon.

The robber made off with about $100 in cash, the owners said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
