A Central Berks Regional Police Department officer has been honored for his efforts to combat drinking and driving.

The Pennsylvania DUI Association recently presented Ofc. Ronald Tobias and 80 other law enforcement officers from across Pennsylvania with its Top Gun award.

The award recognizes the officers efforts to nab drunk drivers and educate the public about safety initiatives, officials said.

Tobias, the only Berks County municipal officer to be honored this year, made 63 impaired driving arrests in 2012, said Dave Bentz, the Berks DUI enforcement coordinator.
