The president of Berks County-based VIST Bank is taking on an additional role.
Tompkins Financial Corporation, the bank's parent company, announced Tuesday that it has promoted Scott L. Gruber to chief executive officer.
Gruber, of Ontelaunee Township, joined Tompkins on April 30 as VIST's president and chief operating officer.
"Since joining VIST, Scott has been a valuable member of the Tompkins leadership team," said Stephen S. Romaine, president and CEO of Tompkins Financial. "With his financial services expertise and knowledge of the marketplace, we look forward to his leadership in growing relationships in southeastern Pennsylvania and making VIST one of our most successful affiliates."
Gruber will retain the title of president as part of his new role with VIST, which is headquartered in Wyomissing.
"VIST has a history of outstanding service to our customers and commitment to the community," Gruber said. "As CEO, I look forward to leading our team of dedicated financial professionals to build on that reputation and become the bank of choice in our marketplace."
Gruber previously worked 16 years with National Penn Bank, last serving as president of the central region. He also worked for the former CoreStates and Meridian banks, predecessors of Wells Fargo.
