A Berks County man has been arrested for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced Monday.
The arrests last week of Ryan Shaffer and three other Pennsylvania men bring to 200 the number of alleged Internet predators busted by Kane's office since she took office in January 2013, officials said.
Shaffer, 23, of Spring Township, was arrested on July 17 and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.
A search by law enforcement agents of Shaffer's home on Coventry Lane resulted in them seizing several computers and computer equipment. One of the computers previewed by the agents was found to contain several video and image files of suspected child pornography, officials said.
Shaffer was freed on $50,000 unsecured bail. He is due in court for his preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
The three other men arrested last week were identified by authorities as Richard Cotton, 34, of Upper Moreland, Montgomery County; Kevin Donnell, 49, of Polk, Venango County; and Joshua Cramer, 25, of Ford Cliff, Armstrong County.
