TILDEN TWP., Pa. -

A man driving the wrong way on Interstate 78 caused an accident that closed a stretch of the westbound lanes in Berks County for the second time this week, state police said.

The driver of a pickup truck was traveling east on I-78 West around 6:30 a.m. Friday when he was struck by a pair of oncoming tractor trailers at the Route 61 interchange in Tilden Township, near Hamburg.

Both big rigs then hit the concrete median, with the pickup truck pinned between them and the barrier, police said.

The pickup truck driver had to be freed from his vehicle. He suffered only minor injuries, police said.

Both westbound lanes of I-78 were closed for approximately three hours while crews worked to remove the vehicles. Traffic was able to squeeze by the scene on the shoulder of the highway.
