MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. -

A power outage slowed traffic through a busy stretch of Route 61 in Muhlenberg Township late Tuesday morning.

The outage caused the traffic lights at the intersection with Bellevue Avenue to stop working, creating a four-way stop.

Fire police were dispatched to help guide traffic through the intersection while the lights remained out.

According to Met-Ed's website, 303 of the utility's customers in Muhlenberg Township were without power, including businesses in the area of Route 61 and Bellevue, until electricity was restored shortly before noon.

Met-Ed has not yet said what caused the outage.
