WEST READING, Pa. -

The first-ever Laney's Fashionista 5K is set for this Sunday morning in West Reading.

The race, police said Friday, will have a temporary impact on some borough streets in the form of closures and parking restrictions.

The 400 block of Chestnut Street, where the race is set to begin, will be closed to all vehicle traffic by 8 a.m.

In addition, the following streets will have restricted parking between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.:

  • 400 block of Chestnut Street
  • Parkside Drive North from Museum Road to Seventh Avenue
  • Seventh Avenue from Museum Road to Spruce Street

Vehicles parked on those streets after 7 a.m. will be subject to citation and towing, police said.

Proceeds from the race, held in honor of Laney Brown, a West Reading girl who lost her battle with cancer on Christmas Day 2013, will benefit kids with cancer.

The race, presented by Laney's Legacy of Hope, is set to get underway at 9 a.m. It will be followed by a post party featuring live music, raffles, food and drinks and games.
