OLEY TWP., Pa. -

A nearly year-long project to repair a structurally deficient bridge in Oley Township is on schedule to start next week.

PennDOT said Thursday that crews will replace the deck and beams on the bridge over the Little Manatawny Creek at Route 73 and Route 662.

Traffic will be detoured from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays between Friedensburg Road and the western intersection of Route 73 and Route 662.

Those detours will be in effect beginning Oct. 16 and last approximately three weeks, said officials, adding that the entire $1,189,692 million project should be complete in September 2014.

The bridge, originally built in 1959, has an average daily traffic volume of 14,155 vehicles, according to PennDOT.
