A quick-thinking EMT was hailed for his heroics Monday night.
Eric Cleveland of the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department was honored during a borough meeting.
Officials say an 88-year-old woman collapsed at the Berkshire Mall two days before Christmas and they say her heart stopped beating.
Cleveland was off-duty at the time but he raced to her side and managed to get her heart beating again.
The mayor read a letter from the elderly woman's family that said Cleveland went above and beyond the call of duty.
