A free cup of hot coffee brought Reading residents and police officers together Thursday morning.
The McDonald's on Lancaster Avenue hosted its first "Coffee with a Cop" program.
The goal, said Christian Rawden, the restaurant's owner, was to foster a discussion between the police and residents about after-school safety and other neighborhood needs in the city.
Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer, the city's managing director and about a half-dozen officers took part in the program.
