Deadly crash in Perry Twp.

PERRY TWP., Pa. -

State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 79-year-old Shoemakersville woman.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. Friday when a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by Marlene M. Wallace -- who was not wearing a seatbelt -- traveled across the roadway on Forest Lane and struck a large tree, according to State Police.

Wallace was transported to Reading Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation continues.
