Police: Inmate fails to return to corrections center
Police are on the hunt for a man who they said is now considered to be an escapee on the run.
Kenyatta Omar Blaylock left the Wernersville Community Corrections Center in South Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co., at 11:35 a.m. Monday, said state police. He had permission to go to the Lancaster County Courthouse, but he never returned, said police.
Blaylock, 31, was committed to the facility following his arrest on drug charges, said police, who added that he was due to be released on Dec. 9, 2015.
Blaylock, a native of Philadelphia, may be headed to relatives' homes there or in Lancaster, police said.
Anyone with information about Blaylock's whereabouts can call the Pennsylvania State Police at 610-378-4011 ext. 3 or Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
This is the second escape from the Wernersville Community Corrections Center this month, although the first one was more dramatic.
Jesus Manuel Gonzalez was being processed on a probation violation on Jan. 16 when police said he fled the facility and stole an employee's car.
Gonzalez, 29, was apprehended on Jan. 25 by members of the Berks County Sheriff's Department, U.S. Marshal's Service and Pa. State Parole.
He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $50,000 bail.
