A 19-year-old man shot a teen in the neck, just a block away from Reading High School, police said.

Jeremy Mendez, 19, of Reading, is on the loose, wanted in connection with the shooting that happened at around 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 600 block North 13th Street, police said.

Mendez will be facing attempted homicide and related charges.

Officials said the victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an alleged snitching on a robbery when the suspect and victim were both gang members.
