Police say the man who shot a teenager in the neck near Reading High School is now off the streets.

They say Jeremy Mendez, 19, surrendered to authorities Tuesday and is now facing attempted homicide and related charges.

The shooting happened Friday afternoon in the 600 block of North 13th Street, which is just a block away from the school.

Officials say the victim-- a 19-year-old man-- was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
