POTTSTOWN, Pa. -

Police say stolen scratch off lottery tickets helped them solve a violent robbery at a Pottstown gas station.

Police say an employee was punched in the face and severely injured during a robbery earlier this month at the Citgo on West High Street.

They say the robber made off with more than 1,000 lottery tickets.

After the lottery commission told police where the stolen winning tickets were cashed, surveillance pictures led to two arrests.

"We just had that extra push for the victim who was severely injured from this to really try and put this together," said Detective Brooke Fisher.

Police say one of the men arrested is being charged in connection with robbery.

They say the other man caught cashing the tickets was behind a theft at the same gas station a few days earlier.
