Reading considers implementing code blue
Thanks to a 69 News report that aired Thursday night on our Spanish Edition, officials in the city of Reading say they are now looking into implementing a Code Blue for the city's homeless population.
A Code Blue would be declared when the temperatures drop below freezing.
It would also mean that shelters would not be able to turn away anyone seeking a warm spot for the night.
"In light of what all of the non-profits are doing, what the shelters are doing, we need to have a concentrated effort on the part of the city, and the mayor and I will be working toward that," said Carol Snyder, Reading's managing director.
The Code Blue declaration is already in place for cities like Allentown and Philadelphia.
