EXETER TWP., Pa. -

A Rhode Island man is in custody for allegedly robbing a bank in Berks County, and he is suspected of committing other holdups in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

U.S. Marshals arrested Nicholas Joseph Casaburri in the Philadelphia area Wednesday afternoon, Exeter Township police announced Thursday.

Casaburri, police said, was armed with a handgun when he robbed the Customers Bank branch on Hearthstone Court in Exeter Township on Saturday.

Since then, Exeter detectives said they have been working on the case with the Camden County, New Jersey, prosecutor's office and other local and federal law enforcement agencies.

Their investigation revealed that Casaburri also robbed banks in Langhorne, Bucks County, on September 9; Gloucester Township, New Jersey, on September 6; and Morris County, New Jersey, on August 31, police said.

Meanwhile, another recent bank heist in Exeter Township remains unsolved. A woman robbed the M&T Bank at 4000 Perkiomen Avenue on August 16. She fled on foot with cash and got into a black sedan driven by a man, police said.
