YORK, Pa. -

Bacon-lovers in Berks will soon find a unique treat on the menu at the county's newest convenience store.

Rutter's announced Friday that it will be the first convenience store chain in the U.S. to sell Kunzler's new bacon-wrapped cheddar dog.

The hot dog, wrapped in bacon and stuffed with both cheddar cheese and cracked black pepper, will make its debut next Thursday at all 65 Rutter's stores, including the one that recently opened off Route 61 in Hamburg.

"Our Bacon-Wrapped Cheddar Dog has been three years in the making," said Ryan Krebs, the director of food services for the York-based convenience store chain. "We are extremely pleased to have joined with Kunzler, a long-time, local partner, for this great opportunity. We pride ourselves with being first-to-market, while providing our customers with high quality food choices they can't find anywhere else."

Rutter's said it will offer the bacon-wrapped cheddar dog through January.
