Scouts race to the finish
Pinewood Derby race
A Berks County Cub Scout pack got the chance to work with senior citizens on special construction projects, and this weekend they got to see their creations in action.
The Pinewood Derby Races were held at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Exeter Township Sunday.
About a month ago, the scouts from Pack 358 were paired up with residents at the Heritage of Green Hills who helped put together their projects.
On Sunday, they were racing those cars in the Pinewood Derby Races.
There were three heats and the winner got a trophy.
"The boys get to learn woodworking which is not something they always get to do at home- a lot of parents don't have the tools, they don't have a woodshop in their backyard. And they learn sportsmanship- whether their car wins or loses they are all winners because they got to make their dream car, said Den Leader Kathy Lavanga.
And the good news is: the boy we interviewed--Finn--his car did not wobble and came in first place.
