WEST READING, Pa. -

Residents in West Reading, angry about being ticketed for not removing snow from their properties, fought back and won.

It all happened during a packed meeting Tuesday night at the West Reading fire house, where upset residents demanding answers spilled into the lobby.

Residents say they received a $25 citation for not clearing their sidewalks within 24 hours.

But many claimed they did shovel their properties within the time limit, and should not be held responsible if the wind or snow plows threw snow back on their sidewalks.

Officials say 332 citations were issued.

The borough's mayor, as well as several council members, also received similar citations.

After listening to complaints, council held an emergency vote to dismiss all the citations.

The borough has stopped issuing these citations for the moment while the borough council reviews the ordinance.
