Sixteen Albright College students have cut short their winter breaks and returned to school early.
They are taking part in the Albright Creative Research Experience (ACRE), a program that pairs students with faculty mentors for hands-on work in a variety of disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to business and the arts and humanities.
The projects, school officials said, comprise a wide range of topics, including:
- The evolution of fairy tales and their influence on animated films
- The genetic structure of mice
- Women in the Third Reich
- The evolution of a brand’s advertising slogan
- The link between social media follows and revenue in the chain restaurant industry
Albright students from all majors are invited to apply for the program, which takes place in January and over the summer.
Accepted participants receive a stipend and free room and board during the program.
Many collaborative teams of students and faculty present their research at academic conferences and publish their results in professional journals, officials said.
