Nearly 350 students in Spring Township, Berks County, ditched the school bus for International Walk to School Day.
The gray, foggy weather didn't keep youngsters from walking or biking to Cornwall Terrace Elementary on Wednesday.
"There is an epidemic going on with childhood obesity and diabetes that our country, world, has never seen before," said teacher Ann Stufflet. "This is one way to encourage them to make choices to combat that epidemic."
Organizers said they're happy the event was so well received.
