Some folks in Berks County just could not stay out of the sun during Friday's scorching temperatures.
For some basketball fanatics, the steaming sun was not enough to keep them away from the courts on Schuylkill Avenue in Reading.
"Trying to lose some weight pretty much, trying to stay cool, stay out of trouble," said Jaime Rivera.
A few feet away kids and adults still had their fun in the sun with splashes of water in a fountain.
Anthony Marrera was so desperate to get in the water he jumped in with all his clothes on.
"Because it's nice and cold, and you don't have to be sweating all the time," said Marrera.
Water was at the top of list for Jomayra Rivera.
Friday was her birthday, and there was no place she would have rather been than at the West Reading Pool.
"Because the water gets cold and you cool off when it's hot," said Rivera.
After a day of moving furniture, Beatriz Martinez and her family headed to Rita's in Exeter Township for some water ice.
"You stay cool, and they are flavorful, too. So it's not just a cooling effect, you have a good taste also," Martinez.
And as the day came to a close, there was fun for all ages at the 4th Annual Tennis Night Lights in Hampden Park in Reading.
Folks endured heat by staying active.
"Oh man, just waiting for the sun to go down. Trying to stay refreshed and drinking a lot of water," said Alex Betances.
