TOPTON, Pa. -

The Florida driver who left his tractor trailer parked on tracks in May, only to have it sliced in half by a freight train in Topton, is headed to trial.

Alton Russell waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Police say Russell, 65, of Daytona, Florida, parked his truck on the tracks near the intersection of North Home and Center Avenues and went inside a diner to ask for directions.

A Norfolk Southern freight train then slammed into the tractor trailer, splitting the truck bed in half.

Russell's bail was reduced from $50,000 to $10,000, secured.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for June 30.
