Giant Food Stores is helping farmers in Berks County sell their abundance of produce this summer.

The chain's newest Berks store on Kutztown Road in Maxatawny Township, just south of Kutztown, will host a series of outdoor farmers markets, stating this Saturday and taking place each consecutive Saturday through Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m..

Customers can shop for deals on fresh produce and bakery items on the store's parking lot, organizers said. Product sampling, a corn hole game, music and fun for games will also be part of the market.

In addition to the farmers market, Giant said it partners with more than 75 farmers to offer customers an array of locally grown produce in all of its stores, including seven in Berks County and three on the western edge of Montgomery County.
