READING, Pa. -

Work to improve Cotton Street in Reading started as scheduled Wednesday.

A paving project that should last until the middle of next month is underway. Different sections of the street will be closed for several days while crews are working.

The city said trash and recycling will be picked up as scheduled.

Some residents expressed concerns about drivers speeding on the newly paved street.

Once work is done, the city said police will crack down on speeding in the area.
