READING, Pa. -

A snapping turtle is in a safer place, thanks to some Reading city workers.

Bruce Ream, a recycling foreman, and Michael Pappas, an equipment operator, were at Pike and Mulberry streets on Wednesday when they found the turtle, according to the city's Facebook page.

The men safely picked up the turtle and dropped it off at the Angelica Park Environmental Exploration Center off Morgantown Road.

The center, which is a partnership involving the city, the Berks Conservancy and Alvernia University, accepted the turtle for its eco-adventure camp, where children can learn about the snapping turtle's habitat.
