UPPER BERN TWP., Pa. -

Firefighters in Berks County returned Friday to a place they've become familiar with over the past few years.

Crews were dispatched around 6:20 a.m. to the report of a barn fire in the unit block of Winterhill Road in Upper Bern Township.

It didn't take long for them to confirm the fire, with a plume of smoke being visible from three miles away.

Firefighters pulled water from a nearby pond as they worked for about an hour to get control of the fire, which was sparked by spontaneous combustion in a large pile of hay, officials said.

No one was injured.

Officials on the scene told 69 News that they've been dispatched for fires on the same property three times over the past four years, including one in 2014 that burned two feed silos and a barn containing hay.
