Main Street in Bethlehem is getting a multi-million dollar makeover.

The first phase of a project to spruce up the city's historic district started Monday.

Crews are working to install new sidewalks, lighting and trees. The phase should be wrapped up by the end of the year, official said.

The total project is expected to cost about $3.2 million.
