The westbound lanes of Interstate 78 in Northampton Co. have reopened in the area of Route 412 following a nasty truck fire Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The fire, on I-78 W just past the Hellertown exits in Lower Saucon Twp., broke out a little before 1:30 p.m.

The driver was having an issue with the truck and pulled over onto the berm of the highway, police said.

Shortly after that, the cab caught fire. The driver was able to get out of the truck safely, and no other injuries were reported.

The highway reopened around 4:00.
