Local letter carriers are hoping you'll help them make a special delivery to some folks in need.

The 22nd annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive is happening Saturday. You may have gotten a postcard or a bag, announcing your municipality's participation.

Besides dropping off mail, postal workers across the country will be collecting non-perishable food items that are left out for them by the mailbox.

"We're asking for good foods that you would feed your family -- stuff with protein, peanut butter, canned ravioli, stuff like that," said Frank Kelly Jr.

Last year, the drive delivered more than 330,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest and its member agencies.
