ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Volunteers ditched work Thursday for a good cause.

United Way hosted its annual "Day of Caring" across the Lehigh Valley. Some 1,000 employees of local businesses and universities spent the day helping area nonprofits.

69 News caught up with a group helping Camelot for Children in Allentown clean up from summer camps and get ready for the winter.

Other volunteers were spread out at 50 different projects across the Lehigh Valley on Thursday.

"Without these efforts, so many nonprofits would go without," said Ashley Russo, United Way board member.
