Traffic is beginning to move following two accidents on the northeast extension.
The PA Turnpike Commission says there is still a major backlog of traffic but it is beginning to move.
The crashes happened within 10 minutes of each other happened near mile marker 61.5 of Interstate 476 in the southbound lanes, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission reports.
The Lehigh Valley exit of the northeast extension is at mile marker 56. Mahoning Valley is at mile 74.
The first crash happened at 10:11pm. The second happened at 10:20pm.
Injuries are reported in both, the Turnpike Commission website reports. There is no word on the severity of any injuries.
