The Big Apple is beckoning two local canines. The dogs will strut their stuff at next week's Westminster Dog show.
"Earl is our Grand Champion," owner Bill Thompson.
This Kintersville, Bucks County bloodhound is the leader of Bill and Marty Thompson's pack.
Then there is Donovan. He's Lydia Miller's top dog in Hellertown, Northampton County.
"My heart is with Irish Setters. They're the love of my life," Miller said.
Donovan and Earl are on a canine collision course set for New York City and next week's famed Westminster Dog Show.
"We're excited our dog can get an opportunity to compete in that stage level," Bill said.
Both Earl and Donovan are highly decorated. This will be Earl's first taste of New York. But for Donovan it's already a chewed bone, he competed last year too.
"It was very crowded but he did so well and it's a thrill," Lydia told us.
The two will be competing along nearly 3,000 other crafty canines.
"First thing a judge does is look at from a distance away," Donovan's handler Tim Sheridan told us.
Sheridan says the dogs will be scrutinized from ears to tail, teeth to toes.
"The gate is the most critical part of the exam," he said.
Westminster doesn't offer prize money but for these two pet owners, money doesn't really matter.
"I do it because I love the dogs, I love them," Lydia said.
"Just the satisfaction that a dog from Upper Bucks County can compete at that level and still be a pet," Bill told us.
