3 Lehigh Valley residents killed in Va. crash while traveling to funeral
An 87-year-old Pennsylvania man was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that rear-ended a tractor trailer on the Capital Beltway, killing him and his two passengers, police said.
Police identified the victims Friday as Peter Stesney, 87; Bernice Supinski, 85; and Laura Kordelski, 51.
The three victims were related and heading to Florida to attend the funeral of a relative, police said. Stesney and Kordelski were from Allentown; Supinski was from Bath, Northampton Co.
The tractor trailer, police said, was stopped in traffic on the ramp from Interstate 495 to Interstate 95 South at the Springfield interchange when the pickup truck, driven by Stesney, crashed into it from behind Wednesday evening.
All three victims died at the scene.
