On Friday, veterans all across our nation were honored for their service.

One local event was the second annual Veterans Day breakfast at Traditions of Hanover Retirement Community in Hanover Township, Northampton County. 

During the presentation, more than 80 veterans received proclamations and heard speeches from fellow service members, Congressman Charlie Dent, and Pennsylvania Representative Marcia Hahn.

 All the veterans said they were honored to be a part of the celebration. 

Lt. Col. Linda Ettl is a member of the U.S. Army and just got back from Iraq.  She said, "Veterans Day is my chance, my opportunity to get together with all the other services and the people in the various branches- Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force- and  talk to them and be like a camaraderie."

Retired Maj. Gen. Gerald Still said, "They've done a lot in developing our country and helping us be what we are today.  Again, it's just an honor to be among all these veterans."

 Retired Sgt. Ken Zeiner said he joined the U.S. Army after high school and was injured in combat in the Korean War.  He explained, "I was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded.  Luckily, I came back and I'm doing fine, compared to other Purple Heart people that have suffered more.  So, I salute them too."

 "I love America.  I love all the vets, and I'm proud of our troops overseas right now, and God bless them," said retired Chief Warrant Officer Donald Bear when asked what Veterans Day means to him.
